It's true, but that's ok.

good vlog and very insightful. it tokk until i was past 60 to realize it was ok to at times to put my needs first.
you looked great in that outfit, it looked to be a perfect fit. well fitting clothes always make us look and feel better. but i have to ask, did the straps drive you nuts all night?

This was an excellent topic! Very insightful, and just what I needed to hear because it's been lurking in the back of my mind, too.

I've been thinking about how fine the line between being self-sacrificing and self-care, and it's all too easy to blur that edge depending on the person and the relationship dynamic you have with them. I'm so glad to hear that you have no guilt for taking this time for you, and for anyone who loves you they should appreciate it, too. I would even argue that we should come up with a word other than "selfish" because I think it is the wrong word to use in the strict sense. "Selfish" has such a negative connotation, whereas the self-centeredness you're talking about is positive, intimate... the problem is, I don't think that a word describing this ideal exists in English. Perhaps we need to invent it.

Again, great vlog.

It doesn't bother me, haha. I am okay with being selfish right now, because I have realized I am worth it. That is what I was saying. :-)

Spark on,

Sarah

You are definitely worth the time you put into bettering yourself! I wouldn't say it's selfishness (because that means you have a complete disregard to other's, which is not true) it's just putting your needs first! Which like you said- is o.k.!
If it starts to bother you that you're not spending enough time with friends and family (but because YOU want to hang out, not because you feel guilty) then I'm sure you'll find ways to work that in (just like you did tonight)! Maybe you can even do active, fun things together and then you'll knock out two birds with one stone!
Anyway, enjoy your "me" time, we don't always have the privilege to focus on us! And have fun going out!

Being selfish is okay because if you're not happy with yourself and you're not comfortable with the food or the things you and your friends do (eat out and go dancing) you'll probably not want to be there and or hang out if that's what they want to do. Working on you is key at this moment. Exercising is precious time and when you can get it, you take it. Now you're winding down on school, maybe work something out to spend time with your friends before you all go your separate ways.

It'll work out if it's meant to. Have fun tonight and have a great weekend!
