Being an Example

Saturday, April 16, 2011

So this morning my DH got up and got the kids ready to go to the donut shop. He asked me what I wanted. I said, "nothing" (which isn't entirely true - I WANTED donuts and a jalapeno cheese kolache, but I digress). He asked again, to make sure I wasn't being difficult. Again, I declined.

When they got back, he asked me if I would like some scrambled eggs since he was cooking some for himself. I asked why he didn't get a donut, and he replied that he was inspired by me and didn't want to feel guilty later. SCORE!

Then, while I was doing a workout DVD, Abigail decided to do it with me. At 6, she struggled with all the moves, but I was able to use the experience as a teachable moment. She doesn't have to get every movement perfect. She doesn't have to do everything the people on TV do. The important thing is that she get up and DO it. Yes, your arms hurt - that's your muscles working!

It was cool to to be an example to my hubby and daughter, even for just a moment.

And then...Abigail asked for a donut! emoticon

    Good for you!
And sometimes, we influence people without even knowing it.

I bet your daughter will be a candidate for that Krispy Kreme donut marathon when she's older! You know, do a half, get a dozen donuts, do the other half.

Wa ha ha ha ha! She asked for a doughnut! Too funny!

But seriously, I'm so glad that you're a good example for your family. What you teach your kids will benefit them their entire lives. And even Brad is getting in on the act! emoticon
