This has been a good week overall. I have wanted to get on SP and blog so many times, but I haven't had hardly any time to sit down and do it, so I will just sum up the highlights of this week in this blog entry.
When I weighed on Tuesday, I had gone from 123.4 lbs to 122 lbs since last week. HOORAY!!!
Monday: Worked, ate well, baby shower @ work, but managed to stay within my caloric range.
-- Successes: Stayed within nutritional ranges & didn't "pig out" on the baby shower sweets!
Tuesday: It was a BEAUTIFUL sunny spring day! I went for a run, then cooked, cooked, cooked! I made Strawberry Oat Squares (from OSG), cut up a cantaloupe, Honey/Dijon Crockpot chicken for future meal, and Chicken & Asparagus Pasta (SP recipes) for dinner. YUM!!! Went grocery shopping & found almond milk for $1.50 & $1.75! Tried chia seeds and Earth Balance for the first time.
-- Successes: Stayed within nutritional ranges, only ate 1 1/2 Strawberry Oat Squares rather than the whole pan, went for a run outside over hills and felt great!
Wednesday: VERY LONG day at work, on my feet & running (literally) for half the day. Was so tired I couldn't see straight & muscles very sore when I got home, so I promptly found my hubby and told him we were going to Five Guys for dinner. I tried to eat slowly and savor my fast food treat & I felt MUCH better after dinner. My body needed those extra calories.
-- Successes: Made a choice to go to a "healthier" burger joint, had a small hamburger (no cheese), & only ate 1/4 fries even though I wanted to eat the whole burger joint!
Thursday: Floated to the regular ICU @ work & really enjoyed the experience
-- Successes: ate well & did not buy the chicken/bacon/ranch slice of pizza I really wanted from the cafeteria, chose frozen yogurt over Oreos after dinner.
Friday: Really wanted to go for a run, but muscles were much too sore, so I decided not to push my body too hard since I am still trying to heal. Instead I went shopping, got some great consignment store bargains (name brand jeans for $10, sunglasses $2, cute heels $8) & some good power walking exercise at the same time. Went to a rehearsal dinner.
-- Successes: Stayed within caloric range even with the rehearsal dinner! Ate LOTS of salad & not much pasta or bread. Said "no" to seconds.
My Current Keys to Success:
- drink LOTS of water!
- eat at least one salad a day (no dressing)!
- protein, protein, protein! (greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, luna bars, lean chicken, fish, etc)
- plan meals ahead!
- fill up on fruits & veggies!
- less sugar makes me want less sugar (HUGE sweet tooth)!
- stay active even when I can't run!
- get creative & modify recipes to make them healthier!
I am feeling SO much better physically and my body feels attractive once again because the bloated junk food feeling is gone.
Let's make good choices! They will pay off!
