BIG HUGE life changing news

Thursday, April 14, 2011

We've been talking about it for years, and Mike and I have finally made the decision... we're going to try for another baby.

A 13 year gap between kids might be a little unconventional, but we've never claimed to do things in the same order as most :)

I'm so thrilled I can't contain my excitement! We haven't told anybody yet- so any of you that are Facebook friends with me please keep it on the down low. But I just had to talk about my excitement with somebody- and where else but on Spark? Over the years I've blogged about more personal things here then I ever would in public.

Along with that news is another related life changing decision- I'm selling my salon. Three reasons- 1)reduce my stress for the pregnancy 2)reduce my responsibilities for once we are pregnant and after the baby arrives 3)to put a little extra $ into savings for the delivery and some time off for maternity leave.
I will still be working- just not owning anymore.

Hopefully the sale of the shop will only take a few months- we don't want to start trying till after it's sold. We're guessing selling a business will come with similar stresses as selling a house and we want to get it done with beforehand.

I have an appointment on the 26th with my obgyn and will talk to her about preconception health. I'll still be doing my half next month since that's so soon- nothing will be happening by then. But this does make my Warrior Dash plans unsure. For now- I'm still planning on it- but obviously, if all moves quickly I might not be able to do it this year. But there's always next year- and it would be good motivation to get in shape again and drop baby weight.

How different it is from when we had Bryn. We were 19 and had no idea what we were doing, she was a complete surprise. I had absolutely no knowledge about health or nutrition- I lived off McDonalds and waffles with powdered sugar for the entire 9 months! I gained 80 pounds during the pregnancy. Must have been by some miracle of my youth that she was born so healthy. This time I'm going into it from a healthy start- I eat right, I exercise, I take my vitamins with folic acid. I'm crossing my fingers that once it happens pregnancy hormones and cravings don't kill the last few years of hard work- but I don't see myself going too crazy knowing what I now know about the importance of nutrition.

Okay- done babbling... just excited :) Hopefully in about 2-6 months from now I'll be letting you all know I'm pregnant :)

I am so excited for you, this is big news! I will keep you in my prayers that all goes very smoothly! My 32 year old daughter is trying, been off the pill for two months and no cycle yet! Home pregnancy tests have been negative. She is seeing her Doctor again next week! My older 34 year old daughter just had her second. She has a five year old son, by c-section and now her one month old daughter with a successful natural delivery. She changed Doctors in her third trimester because hers would not do V-backs. She even had to change hospitals, but had the dream team, short labor, five hours start to finish! She is so glad she made that decision, home the next day, no surgery and quick recovery! Healthy beautiful baby girl!

I think 13 years is perfect because you won't have two little ones to keep up with... I have a friend who has a 12 year old daughter, and a new born and she is so helpful and just loves her baby sister. Good luck... emoticon ... keep us posted!...

I hope that you conceive and deliver easily and safely. Your life journey that started in 2008 is really an inspiration - even to this most recent post - you have demonstrated over and over again your ability to make a plan and execute it. Woo Hoo!

How exciting!!! I'm so happy for all of you. Who says you have to follow "convention?" And Bryn will be an amazing big sister. Don't sweat the weight gain. A certain amount is inevitable, but you have the tools and the drive now to stay on track. AAAHHHH!!!! That's me screaming my excitement for you! LOL (It's easy to get excited over the thought of babies when I know they aren't going to be mine.)

What wonderful news. My sons are 14 years apart. I had my first as a teen and it worked great. I've played with the idea of a third. My youngest is almost 8 but I don't think it's in the cards for us. I may get get jealous of you though so who knows. I hope everything goes smoothly and you have good news to share in a few months!

Good for you, Missy (and Mike)!!

That is great news. Can't wait for the "real" announcement. Life can be full....but kids make it complete. This gives time for Bryn to adjust to being the older sister, too. :-)

Best wishes as you work towards your life changing plan!!

Hope you have a great rest of the week....Bill

Omg soooo excited for you! Give yourself a HUGE HUG from your Spark friend! Omg I was 25 and 27 when I was pregnant and only wanted to eat McDonalds quarter pounders with cheese through the whole pregnancy :(. I absolutely would eat differently now that I'm 40. You will have such a great time this time! Enjoy every moment!
