Sun Shower

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

The other day after working out at RiverWalk, Mother Nature dished up some most peculiar weather as there was the most striking sunset with the skies clearing all the while steadily raining! I pulled over to get what would have been the perfect sunset picture with the sun just peeking over the horizon setting the trees on fire. BUT: it was not to be...that slippery old sun just nudged a bit further down out of sight. I hopped back into the car and just another few blocks I realized how beautiful the sunset still managed to be, glowing across the Chenango River here in Binghamton so I tried again! Juggling an umbrella that refused to stay open with one hand I nabbed the shot above.

Enjoyed another lovely 41 mile journey with my bike club this past Saturday. The ride was scheduled to begin out of Greene to Oxford. However that would have only been around 20 miles round trip. Since I live near Chenango Forks another 20 miles further south I thought why not tack it on? I posted to the club that I was starting out from Chenango Forks if anyone wanted to join me. Didn't notice anyone there, however so sailed right up to Greene. Moments after arriving another member got there and said he was waiting for me in Chenango Forks! Hmm...don't know how we could have missed each other...?

Although the weather was SUPPOSED to be sunny it was fairly drab with clouds all the way to Oxford. I wished and willed and hoped and prayed....and sure enough! On the way home the clouds parted and the sun came out to play! Woo hoo!

Here's a pic of a gorgeous old stone church in Oxford. I took this on the way into town, before the sun could really illuminate things, but still very impressive.

Looks like Sunday will be the better day for cycling this weekend. Probably return to Spinning class Saturday...my instructor is missing me...lol! I've warned her that as much as I love Spinning class, the open road is going to be running her TOUGH competition! :-)

April is living up to its reputation with LOTS of rain in the forecast, clearing and sunny days coincidentally seem to be happening on days when I'm working too late to ride. So no commute rides STILL...grr!

Hump day everyone! Spark On to the weekend!

Don

I got out for a short shakedown ride with Carrie on Saturday.

This weekend it'll be 18 miles, a 2000 ft climb for my leg of the Tuckerman's Ravine Pentathlon in NH. (!)

I was originally supposed to kayak, but due to my shoulder injury I switched with the biker.

Isn't amazing all the beatiful things we see when we get up off our butts and get out side?????? That is the part I like... I explore the greenbelt trails, mountain trails,I walked up the hill to the water tower, played in the fountains in Old Town and much more..... awesome.

Envious of your bike tours. I am not supposed to ride bikes anymore and I do miss the pleasures. Great picture too. Just have to see the outdoors on my feet.
