Does this look like a salad to you that you could live off of for a week?
These last few weeks have been extremely difficult for my diet and exercise. First there was my husband's birthday party (which was so much fun and totally worth letting go for a night), followed by Spring break. With all the kids home, it's difficult to exercise - especially since we still had snow on the ground outside and I literally HATE the cold.
Then, last week, my husband and I went to St. Louis on a work trip - eating in restaurants and road food. While I am a vegetarian, did I ever mention that I hate most chain restaurant "salads". A bowl of iceberg lettuce with a slice of tomato is not a salad. It's rabbit food. Salads need cucumbers and sunflower seeds and a mix of greens with baby spinach, maybe some fruit (like strawberries) or an egg. OOH! and some olives. THAT'S a salad. Throw on some roasted red peppers and you're my best friend for life. However, that's not what they serve in fast food restaurants. McDonald's has a fruit salad - but it's not vegetarian, as there is gelatin in the yogurt. Besides, I can't live off salads for a week anyway. It's not varied enough for good nutrition.
So, anyway, I step on the scale expecting to have gained weight. Instead, I've lost weight! I can't believe it! I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but all that pasta and pizza and stuff couldn't have helped any. I only managed to get to the hotel gym once. It really confirmed for me how much I detest gyms. I don't like running in place on a machine next to total strangers. I also like to do something - and running in place just doesn't cut it for me.
Again, I digress - I stepped on the scale, the numbers were lower instead of higher - but I don't want to record it here till Friday to make sure that it is indeed real weight loss and not some fluke.
Do you do that? Do you ever think the scale is wrong? I always do my official weigh-ins on Friday along with measurements, so I guess I will see then. I'm hopefully optimistic! I'm hoping that mixing things up for a while with a little higher calories (as some of you guys suggested) really kick started my metabolism!
