Things I need to work on (Continuation)

Monday, April 11, 2011

What causes me to eat??? I DO!!! My enviroment does!! I CHOOSE what I buy, then I choose to prepare it and EAT IT!!!

I MUST MAKE SOME SERIOUS CHANGES HERE!!!

To help me see what I need to change I'm going to list a few things and then review them and make changes accordingly:

How much high-fat, high sugar sweetened foods do I have at my house?--ok so I will open every cabinet, the fridge and freezer and inspect ALL my foods- then eliminate them.

Do I aimlessly eat, without thought and care? Oh yes I do. I need to eat meals at the table and the table only with my family. I also need to take a bottle of wate and a snackr with me when I go somewhere in my vehicle.

Do I sample foods while making meals? Yes I do, often I sample too much!

Do I plan meals, and are they easily changable with one another? Most of the time yes, need to do better making a list for the grocery store and gathering coupons.

Do I eat snacks in the correct portions? NO NO NO, must be more aware of what I eat!!

Are my snacks healthy and give me the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients I need? Not always.

Some other thoughts

stock up weekly on fruits, low-fat dairy products, vegetables, and whole-grain foods
add healthy food, rather than just taking unhealthy foods away.
eat a family meal every day at the kitchen or dining table
portion out my snacks in a bowl or on a plate
don't skip meals or snacks
don't eat too fast
drink water instead of high-sugar drinks (including high-sugar juice drinks, sodas)

Continuation of another blog:

I MUST not focus on what the scale numbers are. I know they help me see how I'm doing but they are NOT the only means to measure my journey success.

Today I'm making healthier choices in some areas but not like I should, Mountain Dew is my HUGE downfall.

I have eliminated many "Snacks(JUNK)" that I used to buy and purchase more FRESH fruits and veggies, often I make fruit salads for snacks. I add bananas to my breakfast cereal or even an apple with some peanut butter and cinnamon.

Still sampling too much while I fix meals.

I use smaller bowl and plates for my meals, so portions are more in line to what I need to be eating.

Having a hard time getting in my dairy, must buy more yogurt and some granola to go on it.

I'm sure to be adding more AGAIN, but this is where I stand right now.

I love your blog. You remind me soooo much of myself a few years ago. YOu can do it. I'm a FORMER emotional eater. If i can do it, you surely can. I found logging my food REALLY helped me.

I have to remember my stomach is not a disposal. My dog, my trash can, or the food pantry are much better was of getting rid of left overs or food.

I have started to plan my menus. I am surprised how stuck in a rut I am. It is fun to get my imagination going on what will taste good, & be in my price range. It is fun to open my menu, & see what i will choose from each day. Yesterday, of all things, I shared a can of spaghetti with my grand daughter. I forgot how good that can taste, & how much fun making pasta faces is.lol

Anywho, we can do this. One day @ a time. One step @ a time.
