Losing the Spark, but it's not a bad thing...

Let me explain...

My adoption of the 4-Hour Body (4HB) system is exciting, and has actually diminished my need for SparkPeople...

Let me explain:

One of the big BIG benefits to the SparkPeople site is the ability to track caloric intake, as well as track calories burned. You can't argue against the fact that there is a huge emphasis placed on those activities on this network.

Since 4HB really doesn't require you to count calories eaten or burned, my need for this network had diminished a little bit. The conversations are still good, when relevant, but there aren't a lot of relevancies within this community I'm afraid.

If you're not familiar with 4HB:
(1) Avoidance of White Carbs (or anything that can exist in white form like rice, breads, pasta, etc)
(2) Eat the same few staple meals over and over (experiment with preparation, but stick to the basics)
(3) Don't DRINK calories
(4) No fruit or juice (fructose is most easily converted to fat)
(5) Take one day off per week - ala "Cheat Day", eat anything you want

Check out www.fourhourbody.com for more info.

    Brian,

When I'm busy or don't want to bother with detail, I like to switch to SparkAmerica.com to do my tracking. (I forgot if you are American, so I am just assuming.) You can just track water, number of veggie servings and fitness minutes. The login is the same as SparkPeople.com

I can see how 4HB makes some SP tools less important--if you aren't here for the social aspect of a weight loss/fitness community then your decision makes perfect sense.

Best Wishes,

HuskerSalad (Megan)

There is so much inspiration on SP and we all have days when we just don't want to keep on keepin on -- that is part of the beauty of SP for me. I hope you are successful and continue to share your success with us.

great summary of the 4HB , you should post your cheat sheet here for people like me :)

Also, you should keep sparking to support fellow 4HB rs and 4HB modifiers :)

It's definitely about the people here for me anyhow. Why don't you start a Spark Team for the program you are doing? That way you can do both, and talk to other members about the program and still spread the Spark! Good luck! emoticon

I know what you mean. But I still enjoy checking out the blogs and reading lots of the articles. There is so much here, even if you aren't using some of the tools. :)
