a light bulb moment for me.....

I have been a faithful member of Spark People for almost 2 years now and I am truly dedicated to my fitness and absolutely LOVE exercise. We have a very active family as a whole and that has always been the easy part for me. The hard part has always been nutrition.
I had intentions of eating clean and have set goals for myself routinely only to misfire and do the exact opposite of my plans when time is tight and I am starving or I have not planned well, which is frequent. It is so amazing that I only need to lose about 25-30 pounds considering what a mess my nutrition can be at times...... Guess all that exercise has really helped!!!!
It seems over the past few weeks that I am undergoing a true change and epiphany in my life. Not sure where it cane from or that I am just darn sick of saying I am going to get it right and not accomplishing it. I have been eating clean and planning my meals for a week now and wow, what a difference it has made in how I feel, inches are going by the way side and I will see how it will relate to the scale later this week (I only weigh once a week). It has been so easy too and I am having the whole family eat like this too with no griping from the peanut gallery!!!!!!
I have personally adopted a plant based diet over the past couple of months and really feel great. The family will still eat meat and I am OK with that. They will be able to make their own decisions as they learn and grow. My daughters are 16, 13 and 12 and are very athletic and active and are skinny as rails.... (I was too until I hit 40!!!!!)
I am amazed at the energy level that I have and I can power through my workouts so much easier now. Funny how food can do that for ya!!!!!!! I truly love SP and all the great and motivating people that I have "met" over the past couple of years. I learn from everyone and I feel that seeing so much success has really helped me get that light bulb moment. I will keep posting about my progress, but an initial goal is no dessert for 30 days! A long term goal is to compete in a fitness/figure competition for the 40+ crowd!!!! Will keep updating as I go along!!!!

    It sounds like you are doing great. I am also revamping my eating plan. It's time I did. I spent most of my life thin until I was 46. I don't want to spend the rest of it being fat.
