My Sons Nutrition Awareness

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

My sons high school baseball coach is challenging his athletes to keep track of what they eat and work on improving their food choices. So I sat down with him and sample tracked on my nutrition tracker what he ate all day. It wasn't pretty let me tell you. Breakfast was sugary cereal with 2% milk: Lunch at school was chicken tenders and fries. After school snack on the bus on his way to his game was hot Cheetos. Dinner was a pit stop with his team at Carls where he ate a Famous star, fries, and a sprite. I was so sad to see there was not one vegetable or fruit on his list. He saw a sample on my day and asked why mine looked like so much food, but his calories were so much higher. I explained and I hope that this challenge forces him to take a good hard look at his nutrition and decides to make better choices. He is super athletic and that's great, but I always tell him that for this reason his body needs the best nutrition possible.

emoticon I love that your son is becoming aware of what he's eating! Because he's an athlete, the nutrition choices he makes are just as important!! emoticon
