When my friend JULIEANNCAN began posting blog entries as part of the "Stress Busting Team Challenge", I was intrigued. I learned the team is a 4 week challenge designed to help members gain skills to alleviate unhealthy stress. Yep, sign me up!

The first task was to take SparkPeople's "Stress Test" to measure how high my stress level is. My results were "You have some vulnerability to stress".

Ya Think????

The recommendation was to concentrate on changing those items on the test on which I scored a "3" or less. That would be the following:

* Eat one hot, balanced meal one time per day.
* Get 7-8 hours of sleep 4 nights per week.
* Exercise to the point of perspiration 2x/week.
* Earning an income adequate to meet basic expenses.
* Gaining strength from my religious beliefs.
* Regularly attending a club or social activity.
* Having a strong network of friends.
* Having one or more friends to confide in about personal problems.
* Considering myself to be in good health.
* Regularly conversing with people I live with about domestic problems.
* Doing something fun at least 1x per week.
* Organizing my time effectively.
* Drinking fewer than 3 cups of coffee per day.

Whew! No wonder I feel like I've been run over by a train! emoticon
Obviously, tackling all these issues at once would be overwhelming. I've decided to focus on:

1) Exercising to the point of perspiration 2x/week (restarting C25K).
2) Doing something fun 1x/week.

I am actually putting these things on the calendar to ensure I do them!

Of course, I'm still looking for a job and trying to get to sleep each night (insomnia has been keeping me awake until 2 or 3 AM), but I think I need to focus on the above two things because they will be easier for me to accomplish.

Now to check out my next task.....

    Hey girl, give this a try....When you lie down each night visualize yourself climbing into your Heavenly Father's lap. Trust me it's big enough, it holds me. emoticon Then lay your head on His mighty chest. And ask Him to hold you and keep you safe while allowing you to rest completely. I also visualize Him stroking my hair like a mother would when holding her small child.
It works for me....what can it hurt to give it a shot. emoticon
I like that you've chosen a couple of things from your list that you think are doable and concentrating on just those for now. emoticon emoticon

    Try some Chamomile tea for the insomnia. That usually helps me. Sleep is really the most important factor, I learned this from experience. When I went through bouts of insomnia (I still do) I found I wasn't able to handle things as well.
Looks like you are off to a good start.. you are right in taking a few things at a time.

    I bet starting C25K again will help with the sleeping too! I love how when we work on one area in our life, it starts to spill over into other areas.

Kudos to you for not trying to tackle this all at once!

Not only do I recommend finding one fun thing to do this week, I challenge you to blog or journal this week about something positive about yourself!!! If I can list 7 things, you can most certainly write about at least one! emoticon

    My key is to stay TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED! When I start counting my blessing (which I have do daily, sometime hourly), my stress seems to little to notice. You have you own way of dealing for yourself, cause it doesn't matter works for anyone else. Just remember, God is just a prayer away and you are in my prayers daily. Have a blessed Tuesday afternoon!
