Whoops! Backtracking!

Due to an overindulgent weekend, I have set a new goal for myself: drop 3.5 lbs by Thursday, April 7th.

Though it is likely only water weight, I weighed in this morning at 176 lbs. I am not surprised by this as my weekend (including Friday) was spent eating anything and everything that I craved. When I saw the number on the scale this morning, I was disappointed. Now, instead of working my way down to 170 lbs, I have to work on simply returning to my previous weight – which is not fun at all. Still, I remain as optimistic as possible in my understanding that this is not a permanent setback.

Now that I am officially in Week 4 of the Biggest Loser Challenge, I am going to be doing 45 minutes on the stationary bike rather than 30 minutes and 6 sets of 15 upper body reps rather than 4 sets. I do not want to push myself too hard as it tends to be counterproductive in my case but I do know that the extra 15 minutes should help expedite the weight loss process.

Financially, I am in a bind. I spent far too much money over the weekend on all of my unhealthful meals and I am left with only $35.00 to last until next payday (April 15th). While this sounds painfully restricting, it will prevent me from going out and eating foods that I should not. After work I will make a quick trip to the grocery store and pick up lots of fresh vegetables, more eggs, and another pack of chicken bacon. This should cost me less than $20.00. I am flirting with the idea of picking up some fish filets as well, though that will eat up much of the remaining $15.00. We shall see what happens.

I almost forgot! I came in third place for March’s Squash tournament here in the office and my award was a $25.00 gift certificate to Sporting Life. As I have been talking about getting running shoes for a long while, I went and purchased a pair of black Asics on the weekend and thin, moisture-wicking socks to wear in them. This is the first pair of actual running shoes I have owned since the third grade and the difference between these and the cross-trainers and tennis shoes I have worn since then is absolutely astounding.

Now that we are in the month of April, another Squash tournament has begun and I am looking forward to the extra exercise that the game provides. It is so intense and wildly fun! If you have a friend who is interested, I recommend buying a racket and joining heading down to the local gym to play a few rounds.
