One week down, a lifetime to go

Monday, April 04, 2011

After talking to my trainer last week, I simplified (mostly) my diet. I really want to think of this as a lifestyle change for the long run rather than deprivation so I haven't been really aggressive wtih my calories until now.

I made a sheet which basically looks like this:
Breakfast - 200-300
Snack - 100-200
Lunch - 300-500
snack - 100-200
dinner - 400-600
snack - 100-200

That's what I aim for. Basically it gives me 1200 - 2000 calories if I follow it perfectly. The odds of me doing 1200 is remote but for some reason the 'range' helps me aim for the lower end and hit the middle end. I think before I was aiming for 2000 and hitting 2500 by accident.

I've also made it to the gym every day with 30 minutes being the minimum and 40 minutes cardio with 40 minutes strength being my maximum this week.

It seems to have paid off. I weigh in twice a week - once for Sparkpeople and once with my trainer. My Spark weigh in this morning had me down 5.8 lbs. it won't sink in until my weigh in on Wednesday but I think I've finally had a 'as near as perfect as can be expected' week.

Good for you!!! You appear to be on the right track. I may consider getting a trainer. I have such a long way to go, but I hope to not give up on my goal of losing weight and being healthy. Keep up the good work. emoticon
