This is absolutely no April Fools' joke.
I am taking the month of April off from Spark.
I'll be around, spinning and reading blogs but that is it.
I am going to Paris for 10 days at the end of the month anyway so it seems like a good time.
I am sosososso tired of the obsessing about numbers and the tracking, tracking, tracking. I do weigh, measure and track every single thing.
I am just ready to step away.
Since I had another day off today I sat down with my Spark Summary Calendars folder and added to my cumulative data, going back to Jan 2009 and it makes no sense at all.
It is NOT all about the numbers for me.
This is 28 MONTHS of tracking, folks, and I have lost as much as 6 lbs in a month (my very first) and reached 28 lbs (never touched that elusive 30!) before plateau-ing for over a year at 168 (Sept 09- Oct '10).
I only measure my waist and it has gone down with my weight, especially once I pretty much gave up alcohol (which I thought would really make a difference, but hasn't).
I am, always have been, and always will be a happy little gym rat, averaging 60-90 minutes 5 or 6 days a week, despite some injuries along the way and understand that I am a big, fit person with a lot of muscle weight.
I vary my workouts, do yoga, lots of ST, and many different forms of cardio. I adore exercise.
I cycle my calories and my carbs naturally (ranging from 1100 cals to about 1900).
I cook at home 95% of the time, with lots of veggies and almost no processed food and I watch my sodium. I have had a big salad with 3 oz of chicken and one teaspoon of olive oil for lunch 5-6 days a week since January 1st.
Coffee is an occasional treat- like wine.
I join new teams, participate in challenges and support fellow sparkies.
The medication I have just gone off for my hip bursitis is to blame for my temporary wt gain and I assume that will go away.
In the meantime, here's my problem and source of discouragement:
Oct- av cals 1445 + 1lb to 169
Nov - av cals 1482 +1 lb to 170
Dec- av cals 1517 +1 lb to 171
Jan - av cals 1508 + 1 to 172
Feb - av cals 1502 +1 to 173
Mar - av cals 1480 +2 to 175
April 1st- weighed in this morning at 178 pounds
(my average calories this week were 1391)
so, this is how I feel:
As you can see, consistency, patience and perseverance are my strong suits ( I was a great elementary teacher, if I do say so myself).
But wasn't it Einstein who said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?
So, I need a break- I will eat healthy, exercise a lot, catch up on my reading, enjoy my vacation in Paris and see you back here in early May.
Thank you all so very much for your continuing support.
It means a lot to me.
