I was born and raised in Russia St. Petersburg. I came to the States when I was 19 years old with my parents. Through out the years I perfectly adapted to the “American” way of living. I have successful career, got married, and then divorced. I have my perfect little daughter. However my mind and the way I think is still all the way Russian. I don’t like to be told what to do and how to do it. I like to make my choices and no one is allowed to control my way of living. Please don’t get me wrong, I welcome all suggestions but I am the ONE who makes the choice. Everyone knows Russian history and Soviet Union horror. I guess that’s why growing up the worst you could become is conformist. Until this day I carry the same idea.
Now day’s throughout the country the Government is trying to make decisions for you. No smoking, no fat eating, no spanking (for kids). This is diet-healthy website and I am sure people who follow healthy living might choose not to smoke and eat less fat. But my point is that this is what you choose for yourself… somebody else might choose different and he/she will have enough reasons to support the decision.
I live in Washington DC area and I am an occasional smoker. I have 3-5 cigarettes a day or I can go without it if I don’t have any. Starting February you can’t smoke in DC bars and restaurants. Which I think is crazy. Why don’t we have “Smoking” and “Non-smoking” places with the sign at the restaurant/bar informing people what atmosphere you will find in that place. That will make smokers and non-smokers happy.
