So this vacation week is seriously the best idea I've had in a long time! I'm feeling soooooo much less stressed and so much more "myself" than I have in ages! I've been trying to spend the vast portion of each day doing things I don't normally take time to do, or things I really enjoy but that I never get to do on weekdays. I've also been trying to knock one thing off my "to-do" wishlist each day (for example, today I sent our featherbed thru the wash and hung it out on the line, yesterday I spot-cleaned the carpets...stuff I never take time to do, that doesn't take that long, and that really should be done every now and then!) But mostly I've been doing fun stuff, I promise!!
Monday I hung out with John all day, had lunch with a friend, went thrift shopping and sewing machine hunting (no luck yet, but I have a better idea of what I want!). A delicious day! Tuesday I spent a few hours hanging out in a coffee shop reading and journaling and assessing my wardrobe (one of my big projects right now is to get myself gradually into a more "professional" wardrobe...I still find myself dressing like a broke college student/recent grad about 80% of the time, and I think I might get a little less guff at work if I looked more pulled together...I'd also have a better arsenal of interview/new job clothes...right now I have precisely one outfit I'd consider wearing to an interview, and since I'm thinking about job-hopping in the next few months, that needs to change!) So Tuesday was a fun, relaxing, and productive day!
But today was by far the best day so far! I decided to snag John's singlespeed bike and traipse around town, see how floodsy the river really is, and maybe snag a beer somewhere with lunch. I ended up going all the way into downtown Mpls (and I did get my beer with lunch!), then wandered into south Mpls for coffee before it started cooling off and I headed for home! Approx. 4 hours of biking (counting a few photo stops and lunch and coffee)! And when I mapped it out (just out of curiosity), it came out to almost exactly 22 miles! And I don't feel like I rode my longest ride this year so far by any means! Yay! I'm not in terrible biking shape! It was a lovely ride, too...perfect sunny warm weather...the few times I saw the temp it was around 44 degrees!! PERFECT!
Now I'm off to make spaghetti carbonara for dinner...hope everyone is having a stellar week!
