Saturday was the Pooch and Pal walk and run for POPP (pet over population prevention). It was too much fun. Hundreds of dogs (with their owners) came out despite the cold. Even small dogs donned their little sweaters and braved the cold for a good cause.
I decided to take Chester Copperpot for the 5k run since Buster is so big, I just didn't know how he'd do. But now that we've done it I know that he'd be fine, so he'll go with us next year :)
All those dogs in one place was a bit chaotic so there was a late start. We got there 15 minutes early and the 5k started about 15 minutes late- so the first 30 minutes was like a giant dog party. They provided water and treats for everyone, two and four legged.
The start was a bit slow since there were more walkers than runners, but after a bit of bobbing and weaving Chester and I made our way toward the front of the pack and were able to get a good run going. There's nothing he loves more then running, he does 10-15 miles a week with me on average. Our finishing time was 29 minutes, so his first 5k time was way better then my first 5k time :)
After the run Ches and I had a little cool down walk-
then Ches got a post-run rub down from Bryndalyn
After the rub we browsed the array of doggie treats available and chose the perfect celebratory bone. (No food as rewards is only a human rule)
