Be careful in the heat!

So it has been unseasonably warm here over the past couple of weeks and I realized yesterday that I need to start adjusting my runs for warmer weather. I was procrastinating (as usual) and didn't set out to run until noon. Bad idea! I didn't realize that it was going to be close to 90 degrees! My goal of 20 miles ended at 14 miles with nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. I've had heat exhaustion before so I knew what I was experiencing. How frustrating that I let it happen again! I was able to rehydrate and replace electrolytes but recovery has taken a day. Advice to fellow sure to check the forecast and schedule your runs for the morning. 55 degrees is the ideal temp for running so keep that in mind when scheduling your runs. Stay cool and keep running. emoticon

    As I prepare for my first run in October, this is really good advice, especially since I'm prone to dehydration.
