Committed?

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

I am really struggling to stay committed to living a healthy lifestyle. I keep trying different things to see if I am successful, because the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again expecting the same result. I decided that I am going to start tracking my food. This week is mostly an experiment to see where I come out. According to SparkPeople (taking into account my goals) I should aim to consume 1200-1600 calories....today it was 18somthing...oops. My intent is to study my consumption this week, learn from it, use my learnings to meal plan in the future. I intend to keep track of my calorie intake for at least the next 59 days.

As far as exercise goes, we had very good weather Saturday, so I took the opportunity to take the dog for a run. I ran/walked over two miles. I need to buckle down to be ready to run the 5Ks I am planning in April. I have been exercising sporadically.

Definately a great idea. i have to say that for the past 2 weeks I have been off track too. I was logging everything I ate and taking pictures. It was great habit that I have to get back into. I stopped because one weekend I ate like crap and didnt want to put it on paper. Remember that it all gets jotted down. i love the app on my phone as well. Thanks for the blog it reminds me of what I need to start doing again and continue to do.
The exercise demos on spark are really good too. :) emoticon

You have a good plan - I still track my food after 11 years and it does make a difference.
And it gets to be no big deal - just a good habit.

I just downloaded the app. I did use it today. It was so handy. Thanks for the mantra!

I've been tracking my food for about a year or so. I kinda quit for a month and gained about 5 pounds. It was eye-opening for me. One thing I really like is the sparkpeople app for my smartphone. I can track all day long to see where I'm at. Another sparker had an idea of using her phone to take a picture of each thing she ate each day in order to remember exactly what and how much she ate. I liked that idea, too. The thing about tracking is own it, track it, burn it. Helps me a LOT!
