Work = Hell

Monday, March 21, 2011

I hate my job.

I know, blunt statement, and I've ranted about work before. But today was the straw that broke the camel's back. I am absolutely disgusted with the way in which my managers run the place. It's like a totalitarian dictatorship. The latest rules are that you cannot drink anything on the clock, and the service desk employees are not permitted to do anything that's not on the duty list.

Fuck that shit.

I am by myself at the desk for THREE HOURS. My duty list takes about 45 minutes, provided I'm not waiting on customers. WHAT am I supposed to do in that time?

I'm over these asinine rules. I can understand not allowing the cashiers to hang out in the cashier room (as they are wont to do), but they can at least let them wander in and get a quick drink or something. But no, no one's allowed in the cashier room unless they're using the punch clock or getting change.

And I'm not even allowed to keep a closed container of food tucked under the counter for my break. I have to put it in the dairy cooler and hope that it's still there on my break.

I have had enough, and I am seriously looking for other employment.

    Just checking in a year later to see if things have improved for you at work. Hope the pressure has released for you. By the way I like your blunt way of getting your point across. Sometimes 4 letter works gets the point across best.

    Just thought that you may get a note from the doctor that requires you to keep hydrated throughout the day. That way you can have your drink at your desk.

    That does suck- I quit a job of 4 years I hated a couple years ago- couldnt take my bosses verbal abuse anymore. I may be unemployed right now- but I still dont regret that decision.

    For a minute there, I thought you worked with me... I have two jobs - one I hate and one I love! Thank God for my garden and real estate or I would be telling someone where to go! Life is too short to be miserable!

    I am impressed with the way you express yourself and get to the point. Sounds like maybe you need to dust off that resume and find another place to play. To much stress to endure everyday when the job gets you down. Causes burnout that is a tremendous stress.
Just tell them they are a bunch of lying liars that lie emoticon

    Having a job that makes you unhappy is just MISERABLE!! It's so toxic and can just affect your whole life. Hopefully you can find time to work for better work environment.
