See me. See me RUN!

Monday, March 21, 2011

Can I tell you how excited I am? Hubby and I started an 8 week running program today. At the end of 8 weeks we will be able to run for a full 30 minutes and/or 2 miles... I have no idea if I'll really be able to, but, I'm all for trying. I've never been a runner, ran when I had to in gym class and as a cheerleading warm up, but, never for pleasure or by my own eager gumption. Hubby ran cross country in high school, but hasn't ran in 10+ years. He was a bit surprised but actually pretty game when I suggested yesterday we try this program I found on-line. We announced today "Day 1" and you know what? It was pretty fun! We have very different strides - he is 6 foot 4 and I am 5 feet - but it didn't matter too much. And the best part, besides burning some calories, was that it was still a fun 'date' of sorts. Tomorrow is a rest day, and then we're back at it Wednesday. I already can't wait!!! We actually started with 'week 2', we had that option, so, I guess I technically only have 7 weeks to go and not 8. Either way, I am really looking forward to see what happens.

That's great. I am sure you'll be a runner in no time and hopefully an addicted one too. My husband got me into running and is my favourite running buddy (although running with me doesn't really challenge him)
It's such a good way to spend time together as a couple because you are doing something amazing for your body, you can talk and listen to one another and there is no distraction. Can't wait to go running with my hubby again in April.
Keep it up. I will look out for posts on your progress. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
