5% Challenge: Captain, the Success Trajectory is Restored!

Sunday, March 20, 2011

"You either sacrifice today to reach tomorrow's goals, or you give up your dreams in favor of the fleeting comfort that's distracting you." Dave Griffin

Comfort . What a fascinating concept that when I’m favoring a distraction, it’s a comfort drive. No doubt that’s true of my sugar jones, and sleep. But is there short-term comfort for me when I defer to someone else’s scheduling and give up my workout? Mmm, deep psychobabble in there.

I’m currently taking comfort in the things that went Right this week, and brought me back to just under my first weightloss on this challenge.

** The math. I stayed in my calorie range 5 days out of 7, making it easier for calories in to be less than calories out.

** The burn. I worked out a few more minutes than last week, but there was a qualitative difference – I was working even harder than before.

** Transition. Working even harder because my body is increasingly capable of it.

** Variety. I added the 30 Day Shred video to 4 mornings this week.

** Fluidity. I stand a lot at work, but I’ve added some stretches and walks about, and a lot more playtime with my puppy!

This week:

** Keep this up :)
** Put my evening jogging back on schedule. Only two treadmill runs this week? Yep, it sucks that the mornings are darker now, but not for long. In the meantime, use today’s 5 mile success to fuel the next milestone! That means WORK for it, BABY!
** Update the playlist :) Use often.

And that way it felt to do the 5 miles today? AWESOME, EH? OH YEAH!!! Keep that on the brain!
