I think I'm a "meetings" person...

Saturday, March 19, 2011

I've been to two WW meetings so far -- the one I weighed in at, and another one this morning to get a feel for a different leader. I want to try out as many different leaders as I can before I settle on my "favorite."

I still plan to weigh in at the Wednesday evening meeting, as I did really like that leader and she shares my dislike for the "diet" mentality. But I have to admit that this morning's meeting was great. The leader was an absolute hoot, and we spent the last 5 minutes singing a song about not feeling deprived while losing weight that we made up as we went, while she played the ukulele. Seriously. LOL I was laughing so hard my eyes were watering. She really made it a fun, motivating, and great positive start to the day.

I think I'm a "meetings" person. I know not everyone is. But I love clapping for others to celebrate their success and look forward to being the person being applauded. I love providing encouragement in that way for others who are doing the same thing I am. That element of the meetings is really great and so motivating.

I'm definitely going to give a few more meetings a try so I can see how the different leaders do things before I decide on "my" meeting. It's interesting how differently two leaders can present the same topic.

Your blog caught my attention because I've been thinking of joining Weight Watchers. Even though I love SparkPeople I also think the accountability factor of having someone else see me weigh in would help tremendously. My only problem is I work odd hours and it gets difficult trying to make a morning or noon meeting when I work afternoons/evenings or even into the night at times. There are a lot of meeting locations but I live quite a distance from some of them.

I really like what you said about clapping for someone who lost as well as being the one that gets clapped for. I really like that kind of support.

Thanks for your blog - it made me think even more about trying to find a meeting time that will work for me.

I love meetings! I enjoy the celebrations, seeing the expressions as folks achieve a goal ... large or small. I am amazed at how many ways a different message can be present to a room of members. The difference that a room of members can make to the topic. What a transforming thing we're a part of!
