Today I ran the Deschutes Dash sponsered by Deschutes Brewery! Everyone was decked out in green to show support for St. Patrick's Day and we were all excited to reach the finish line and partake in free beer from the brewery! However, I did not drink the beer after the run-seeing as how my ultimate goal includes fitting into a size 6.

I proudly crossed the finish line in 31 minutes but I've got to say- I am majorly out of shape.
My friends ran the race with me- one of them is 11 weeks pregnant and she was 3 minutes ahead of me a mile into the race! I felt so incredibly slow. My husband was waiting at the finish line and I was a little disappointed at my ability on the track. Two years ago when I trained for a half marathon, 3 miles was a piece of cake! Now, out of shape and 20 pounds heavier....3 miles felt like 13!

I know I need to remember that this is a GREAT accomplishment and NOT something I should be sad about. So, as I look down at my number with pride I remind myself: I just ran a 5k. I'm taking control of my life in a positive and healthy way! And that's gold medal winner stuff if I ever saw it.
