St. Paddy's Day 5k

1st in age
5th female overall
First 5k of the season is officially in the books! Felt great and am really enjoying the benefits of running lighter. Thanks SparkPeople!
It was freezing cold with temps in the high 30's and very windy! The race is part of the local St. Patrick's day celebration and benefits the senior citizens Meals on Wheels program. It was a nice size race and sold out race 2000 runners. The course includes a couple of hairpin turns and short hills but overall is flat. Started out conservative, settled into what I thought was a reasonable pace for so early in the season and running into a stiff wind. Held my pace well though a little queasy in the last mile and at the finish. Had a little kick at the end and continued to jog through the finish. The queasiness almost always ends badly unless I keep moving til it subsides! Despite the unpleasant nauseous feeling, I know it's a good sign because it means I tried my best and put it all out there.
Happy running everyone and hope you all had a wonderful day! Great to be alive!
