So NOT worth it!

Thursday, March 10, 2011

That burger I had last night, I mean. My stomach hurt when I got home. It's the next morning and I still feel have that "I ate something greasy, salty, icky" feeling. This is a good thing. My body is reminding me why I don't eat this way very often anymore.

On another, healthier, note: My neighbor received 50 strawberry seedlings yesterday and brought over a few for me. She was sucked in to buying them from an ad she received by e-mail some time ago. "AMAZING strawberries! As BIG as peaches!" it touts.

Not only do I have concrete for a yard, I also am totally clueless when it comes to growing anything. I have one plant in the house (besides these strawberries). It is an aloe plant and I worry about it every day. It is hanging in there but quite droopy. I don't know the first thing about growing strawberries. Can they be grown in a container? Full or partial sun? Is it too cold to bring them outside right now? She planted and brought them over in a smallish/ medium-size pot. There are three seedlings that look like they will get quite big. I will probably need to repot them. I'll be doing some research today, or maybe I'll call a nursery. If anyone knows how to grow them and could offer some tips, I would so appreciate it! :)

Oooh....I'm so excited about doing a small garden. I'll get some strawberry seedlings tomorrow that I had ordered and I'm ready to get things going....unfortunately, winter has not let go of our area yet :( This will be my first attempt at strawberries. I am a horrible gardener, so we'll see how it goes LOL!!

Sometimes I think eating like that is a good reminder. Kind of an: Oh yeah, THAT's why I stopped eating that. And now you'll know for next time:

Can you ask your neighbor what to do with the strawberries - how and when to do what?

I feel the same way when I eat to much greasy stuff. Kind of built-in portion control if I remember the next time ;-)
I wish I could help you with the strawberries but I have a black thumb. The only thing I was good at growing was fungus in grad school (did fungal genetics).

Good luck!

I love how our bodies tell us when something doesn't agree with us! A nice natural form of negative reinforcement. emoticon

I feel the same way after eating burgers or some of the other foods I used to eat daily. My body does not like it!
