Will this week never end?

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

I hate weeks where I end up having to pull a late nighter on a Sunday. The whole week ends up being miserable because I'm tired. Ugh. Only 44 more hours to go til spring break officially begins.

Monday night I went to a talk at the union given by Brian Cox, a partical physicist at CERN. It was amazing. I almost talked myself out of it because I was really tired, but I just told that little voice to be quiet and off I went. I'm just disappointed that I left my "Why does E=mc^2?" book in Kenosha. It would have been pretty cool to have it signed.

Tuesday I went to core crunch (my abs still ache) and got in a strength session. I absolutely hate going into the weight room on the southeast side of campus. There were probably 30-40 people there, and at one point it was just me and one other girl. There was way too much testosterone. Being a female engineering student, I'm used to being in the minority, but the thing about the southeast rec center as opposed to the one in lakeshore, is that there are those guys who think they're hot stuff. There were 2 in particular yesterday that had on matching shirts and were loudly talking about how much weight they were lifting, were checking themselves out in the mirrors, and so on. Unfortunately, I had my iPod but no headphones, so I couldn't even drown them out with music! Oh well, I just hurried up and got my stuff done and got out of there!

Later that night I went to a talk put on my the housing staff about LGBTQ activism in Madison from the 1960's on. It was extremely interesting and I never knew that Madison was one of the cities on the forefront of LGBTQ rights! All in all it was a worthwhile 1.5 hours, and I got free ice cream out of it!

This morning I had a test, a couple classes, and lab followed by work and a 3 mile run as soon as I get out of here. Tomorrow morning I'm going to strength train then go to work and a class and volunteer at Wisconsin Public Television, so that should be fun. That means though that I have to pack tonight for spring break since after I leave my room at 9am tomorrow morning I probably won't be back until 11pm!
