electric tape, super glue, duck tape and the YMCA

Monday, March 07, 2011

Trask, my treadmill, needed some repairs. I cleaned off the tread where the seams are starting to come up and applied electric tape. NO DICE. No stick, nadda nothing.

Found some unopened super glue. This will work. It has to! Um.. it was rock hard, no usable super glue.

Found some duck tape. Duck tape sticks to everything! Even treadmill treads! emoticonbut not for long! I really had to use a fingernail and scratch it in, appeared to stick but once I started it up, it came off after a few turns. Oh well.. super glue is on the shopping list! If that doesn't work, we'll look into taking off the tread and reversing it. It's over 10 yrs old, and starting to dry out. If that doesn't work, then it will be a replacement tread. oh boy.

Curves w/ Zumba on Saturday was great. It increased me by 49% emoticonthe Smart program before, every time it increased me by more than 3%, it would always back me down the next time because I could never handle greater than 3% increase. I know it was because of Zumba the day before. So I went thru the Zumba, it said I had more of a realistic heart rate, but 267 calories vs 281 from Thursday. hmmm

I know I'm burning more calories with Zumba than without as the beat of the music really keeps you going!

Had a wonderful dinner out with friends on Saturday. Sunday morning I made crepes, love 'em! and there are 6 left over to use for fajita's or something.

Sunday, went to a friends house, another disgruntled w/ the Curves we belong to, and checked out the Y. We are both interested in spinning classes and were really impressed when during the tour, the spinning class got out and these people were red in the face and their hair was soaking wet! We have GOT to get into that class! emoticon
So... we can actually get in the classes for only $8 more for the 8 weeks than YMCA members pay. We are planning on getting a week free pass and trying it out, but maybe not join till next fall? We both have conflicts for tonights spinning class, but not for tomorrows emoticonclass, so we're are going to do that.

Now my question to those that have taken kick boxing, would you do this after a Curves workout or should I skip Curves?

And what blog by me can be without a Curves Saga??? So the owner was talking to my friend the other day that she believes she is going to sell the business in August. That is when her current lease is up with where she has the business now. So we are thinking, with the classes at the Y only being $8 more, we'll probably stick to Curves + Zumba thru the summer then see what happens end of August.

Oh and my emoticonsaid she would do the YMCA sponsored 5K with me on the 20th of this month.. so I guess I better register eh?

Sunday, after the YMCA tour, we went back to my friends house and did our xmas cookie baking! emoticonwho has time to do this before xmas?

I made chocolate biscotti w/ pecans and white chocolate chips... turned out SUPERB! Girl Scout short bread cookie adaptation, not bad! Of course I had to put red and green sugar sprinkles on them, they are xmas cookies after all! And then I did an oatmeal cookie that crashed and burned. But still really good! It's more like something to put over ice cream, a do it yourself cobbler!!! Baking gluten free is so much fun!

Fingers crossed that super glue will fix Trask.
I think the Zumba is the way to go until the end of August. The YMCA is sounding pretty good. Do they have a running track?
You may want to skip Curves, kick boxing can be pretty intense (I haven't taken a class anywhere, only done DVDs).
Yes, I suppose registering for the 5K would be a good idea since the day will come up before you know it.
The cookies sound good. Now you've got some granola. It's all good :-)
