Post-Surgery Ramblings

Sunday, March 06, 2011

This will be a short blog since I'm still in pain. I went in for surgery Wednesday March 2nd early morning and was out at 12:30. I woke up hooked to IV meds and a 'pain pump' which worked pretty well. But I have a lot of pain and weakness in one of my legs, which is worrying the specialists.

The pain is getting under control and I'm waiting to get a MRI to see whether there is a problem. I think it's probably only inflammation, but they don't take chances and want to make sure. I guess I'll be stuck eating hospital food until this is resolved! If I get the MRI today, I might go home tonight...

I do have to say I'm getting really good care and the nurses are great. I do work in this Hospital and got a lot of visits during the week... which was nice and helped me change my mind. I've actually managed to remain optimist most of the time and make an active effort to smile and focus on the positive. Throughout the day, I repeat positive phrases and smile, I refuse to let negative thoughts enter my mind and bring me down.

I'm about to have tea with a choc chip cookie and a tangerine. The cookie comes from my lunch tray and I got my bf to bring a big bag of fruits a few days ago.

Well, I'll have my snack and rest... and rest... and rest... I'm starting to feel tired and sleepy again! I hope to feel better soon and to get information about the 'activities' I can start doing as soon as the pain / inflammation start going away.

Thank you to everyone who offered me their support. I appreciate every kind word!

Glad to hear you finally got the surgery you needed. Hoping you have a great recovery and the MRI comes out clear. Enjoy the pampering (and the pain pump) while you can.
