I am getting ready to head up to Iowa City to check out a house that is for rent. From what I could tell on Google Maps street view, it is VERY cute. It is one of the few properties that allows dogs of our breed and size (45-pound German Shepherd mix), so hopefully Jake and I have a shot at it.
So I've been totally nuts about a couple of snacks this week. The first one is a box of Rice-A-Roni's Long Grain & Wild Rice cooked in chicken stock, with a bunch of cherry tomatoes added to it. I also throw in a little minced garlic and some shaved Parmesan cheese. I think next time I will make it with about half of the packet of seasoning. It probably has a lot of extra sodium. But yeah, it is pretty darn good. It is like a quick risotto.
The other snack I'm all about is a big fat piece of 7-grain bread from Jimmy John's with a little butter and honey for breakfast. I work at Jimmy John's most nights, so every now and then I'll snag a few slices of wheat that didn't sell during the day. It feels like a win-win situation, because the bread doesn't get thrown away, and I get a delicious and filling breakfast.
Alright, off to Iowa City!
