First Run

I work night shift and after work I went for my first run. I was really bummed the morning before when my run was halted by really viscous thunderstorms and high winds. I was afraid I would see someone else out running today because I am really shy about exercising. I really don't like people to watch me. But it was quiet with the frozen ground around me. I warmed up with a few walking laps, stretched, and started out at a good pace. At this time I had thought I would make it about ten feet and keel over gasping for air like a fish out of water. However, I was able to keep up my original plan of 50/50 jogging and walking at a fast pace. I just counted out thirty seconds and later sixty of each. I know I could have gone another half hour but just in case of overdoing it with my bum ankle, I did a cool down lap stretched and watched the sun rise. (I wish I had a camera with me. Perhaps I will take it with me tomorrow for a shot of the horizon.) Birds where out in the bare branches and I thought about it being spring. It's a time of renewal and a time of renewal for myself.
