Halfway there!

Sunday, February 27, 2011

I can't believe we are at 20 weeks and halfway through the pregnancy! Last night we made our first purchase with a Graco Lauren crib (on sale for $140 including shipping, woot!) and I've started doing a lot of work in the nursery. Today has been lots of cleaning and sorting and throwing and donating, whew! I have the closet almost completely cleaned out though and managed to free up 4 containers that we can now use for useful items instead of the random stuff that they were holding. I also have a huge box of stuff to give away/donate and am trying to convince myself to get rid of even more. I'm a super packrat and I find it really hard to get rid of stuff, so the big box is a huge step for me. Items either have an emotional attachment (like the mirror my first bf gave me, why am I keeping that again? It went in the box today!) or goes into the "I'll use it one day category" (like the endless pairs of size 5 pants that were just waiting for me to use the fabric, they also went into the box to be given to a quilting group).

My awesome husband called and arranged for us to be registered in our childbirth class so we should get confirmation for that tomorrow, and then I just need to register for the nursing class as well. I asked Scott if he really wanted to go to the nursing one because I know that's not exactly comfortable for guys and could just take my mom. He goes, "I want to know everything you are going through, emotionally and physically. I want to be able to help you in any way possible so I will be there." Awww. I've got such a good husband.

I also scored some awesomeeee clothes deals at Motherhood Maternity. They had a "buy one get one free deal" on any item on clearance, which was about 70% of the store! I managed to walk out with 2 pairs of dress pants (originally $40 each) and 2 gorgeous shirts (originally $30 each) for a grand total of $40. I also got a pair of jeans and an every day shirt at Gabriel Brother's for just $9.00. Sweeeet! emoticon

FUN!!! My husband came with me to the breastfeeding class...in fact, there was only one woman in the class who was NOT with the baby's dad. He found it pretty interesting.

Wow, halfway there. How exciting! And congrats about getting such great clothes for cheap.

I was inspired by your story of cleaning out the closet. I, too, am a packrat. A really big packrat. So it's good to hear about people fighting their instincts and clearing some space!

When are you due? I'm 20 weeks today, EDD 7-17. Is this your first baby? I've been avoiding Motherhood Maternity because I think that their prices are kinda high. The good thing is that I work from home so I don't need a lot of dress clothes. This is my second baby so I have a lot of the maternity clothes but they are for warm weather. So I'm trying to just buy time until I can wear it all. I'm starting to clean house also since baby#1 is a girl and baby#2 is a boy. So I have a lot of stuff to give away or donate.

Happy pregnancy. The next 20 weeks will go by fast and slow at the same time.
