Stay off the Scale

Friday, February 25, 2011

I'm obessed with scale!!! I'm on the scale first thing in the morning..every morning..and that's not good; I have the type of scale that gives you the points. so of course for the last couple of days..I've been losing points..
I started at 222.8..then 222.6..then 222.4..this mornig I was 222.2...I'm so despeartly wanting to see 221.9..I know I know..I got it bad. I'm truly addicted to the scale. I really need to challenge myself to stay off the scale..Go cold turkey!!. I think I read somewher that it takes 20 days to break a habit...I already know 20 days is to long...So I'm not going to even set myself up for failure like that. but I am going to try and not get on the scale..tonight..or tomorrow..or Sunday..or Monday...(that's three days)........Okay....Here I go.... emoticon

I agree with Pam, weighing a lot can become discouraging unless you can handle it. I weigh a few times a week but I use that as a gauge to make sure I'm not becoming lazy or to see what's happening to my body. When I feel it's discouraging me I stop for a while. I look forward to reading that you had great success over the weekend and DID NOT weigh-in at all!!!

Thank you Pam...You are right, it is depressing..and I have let that number deterimine my "mood"..that's why I know I need to change my behaviour..quickly!!

Weighing too often can really be depressing because our weight fluctuates so rapidly. I got rid of my scale over 20 years ago when I found that I was weighing several times a day and letting my weight determine my 'mood' for the day. I am only weighed when I visit the doctor, and that is often enough for me. I do not need a scale to let me know if I lose or gain weight. Best Wishes in reaching all of your goals, and try to cut back to weighing only once a week, on the same day, at the same time, and in the same type of clothing.
