I am very thankful that my family are all safe again this time. I opened and ran the Civil Defence sector post, but our little beach settlement was not so badly hit this time. We had more liqufaction and the house is leaning over a bit more, but we got water and power on fairly quickly.
Then today I did a shift in the Rangiora Welfare Center. We took 4 buses of people from the Cowles Stadium welfare center they closed down due to sanitation problems. It ws so sad to see these people file in with they have with them in plastic bags or in one case, a bucket.

I may have to fly to Auckland to work for a week or two as my work building is safe but has no sanitation.

All in all, emotionally we are all devastated, but we know we are the lucky ones, My heart goes out to the families of those who have been lost.
