Afraid of the Floor No More

Friday, February 25, 2011

Ok, so this is embarrassing. I don't know when this started exactly but it became harder and harder to get up off the floor. I'm a teacher and often sit with my students on the floor and I noticed that instead of getting up gracefully or even with a lot of grunting it was getting harder and harder. I started avoiding floor sitting. At home, with my pups, I brought them up instead of me down. When things rolled under the counter, it really ticked me off. I was feeling so old! Then I did Boot Camp and one of the videos has those old timey squat thrusts. I finished Boot Camp and am still doing that first video every day. Guess what? I'm back to to the floor. I love this place! The floor and Spark People!

And I thought I had trouble getting up off the floor because my center of gravity is too high....

One thing that they recommend for the aged (which we are NOT), is to simply be able to get up out of a chair. Scary thought.

Thanks for the tip---I had to restart the 28-day Bootcamp, due to busy February, and now I know what video can help!

Awesome! It's good to be able to get up and down easily. I hope you don't lose that ability any time soon!

Very Interesting Blog. One of the things that motivated me to get off my A.. was a simple incident at work. I dropped a pencil and noticed I had to spread my feet apart and bend sideways (awkwardly) in order to pick it up. Started my program two day's later (After some additional encouragement from my son).
