Started a new bone drug; pic of new wig

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Today I spent about half the day in the clinic, it was time for my monthly oncologist appointment, and for my Zometa. My oncologist switched me from the Zometa to Aredia today; both are pretty much the same kind of drug (for the bones) but the Aredia is easier on the kidneys. The infusion takes longer too; the Zometa only took 20 minutes, and the Aredia takes 2 hours. I will get that drug once per month like I did the Zometa.

I also had my chemo again. This was the 3rd week, so that means next week is my week off! My blood counts are good enough too, that I don't even have to go in for lab work next week either.

Feeling some stomach pain right now; I think it's because I didn't take my lunch time dose of my GP meds, I remembered to bring a lunch along with me, but forgot the meds, which I am supposed to take 15 minutes before a meal. Without the meds, the food stays in my stomach longer than it should.

I took a picture this morning of myself in my new wig; and before I get comments telling me I should "smile", I was not smiling in this picture because I was tired.

I love the wig! It looks exactly the way I'd like to have my thinning hair look. Think when I go to get it trimmed again, I'll take your picture along. Thanks for sharing and know that you are still on my prayer list. I haven't been very active lately, hauling myself out of my own hole. When I read your blogs, I am inspired. Long story another time. Hugs, Meri

I love the new wig! I was thinking of getting a new shorter one also but I think I may hold off and just hope that my hair grows back quickly.

Feel better!

    hi Shari,
Yeah, I would have to cast my vote for this wig...The short perky cut of it, is very flattering to your face...smile or not :)

I hope you can get some good rest in this week off. I'll have to take some pics of my "New Do" ....lol. I have almost NO hair left...very very short. And straight as a pin from the MTX...oh well. It's a change from the curls I've had my whole life. Something new.

I hope your new wig gives you a lot of pleasure and makes you feel good about yourself.
Blessings and Prayers.
Cyn

The cut of the style looks flattering. I always find it hard to smile when I take my own picture. Good luck with the new medication.

    Hi Shari,

You look fabulous in the new wig - love it! Even though one can see you are tired - which is not surprising since you had a long day with chemo, and the GP pain - it really suits you.

I sure hope the new drug agrees with you. I guess the pay off for having something easier on the kidneys of it taking longer to administer, will be worth it the long run. It's good to hear your blood counts were good, and I bet you won't mind having a week off from the chemo and blood tests.

Hope you get a good night's rest and feel better tomorrow.

Cute! I hope this drug works as well as the Zometa. Enjoy your week off -- maybe it will even warm up again!

I think both wigs look great! I kept toggling back and forth to look at them and really couldn't decide which one I liked best.

Shari, you did have a sneak of a smile...your wig looks so good on you! I hope the new med doesn't have too many side effects.
