I finally broke down this week and and bought myself a Polar Heart monitor - the one that works with CardioTrainer on Android. All I can say is - I love it. This thing is so awesome. I have more information about my workouts now than I ever had before. I went out for a quick, easy run with my two daughters - and it was great. I can't wait for the arm band to arrive next week so I won't have to hold the phone while I run (and I can play tunes on it as well if I want).
Now, P90X. I started doing P90X this week and I have to say - it's intense. It was made that much harder by the fact that I would do a P90X workout AFTER I would either run on the treadmill or a workout on the elliptical machine. I got through Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X, Plyometrics and Shoulders and Arms. I skipped today's workout (mostly because I got back home at 1AM yesterday from the west coast). I intend to pick up again next week and start all over. My goal is to do a Sunday - Friday routine and take Saturday's off. Also, if the weather holds I need to start running outside more so that a) I can do longer distances and b) I can vary the terrain.
All in all, I'd say P90X - from what I've seen so far - is a great workout. Now I just need to find a way to blend it in more easily with my current early morning workouts at the gym.
