This morning the sun was shining, snow was melting (despite a new skim of snow over night), and the temperature was rising. So I decided to head outside for my walk. Not nearly was many layers were needed today. It felt so nice to be outside! It brought me the promise of spring, when I can do my workout outside all the time. If I did not have to take the little one in the stroller with me for every workout I probably would have been out there way more already but the slippery road makes it very difficult to navigate. I am thinking about trying the Couch to 5 K, or one of the Spark People 5 k training programs again in the spring. I attempted it last year but my knee did not like it all that much. I am hoping that the strength training I have been doing will have provided my knee with better support and that I will be able to do it this time around! There are so many people here on Spark who have had such great results with running, and not just weight related, that I really would like to be in that group. However, if my knee cannot handle it I am fine with just keeping up my walking and other cardio as well as strength training.
Had a loss again this week, a very small 0.2 pound loss, but a loss nonetheless. I really am starting to feel stronger and more confident which is really my overall goal. Don't get me wrong, I really want weight loss but it is no longer my sole motivator. Having changed to this point of view I feel better about how things are going and where I am trying to get. Took me over a year on Spark to figure this out but at least I have figured it out.
On Sunday I am going for an MRI and arthrogram on my wrist. I am really hoping that these tests will finally show something so I can get some definitive treatment and hopefully not have to stay on medication to get through the day. Unfortunately I don't have a followup appointment with the specialist who ordered the tests until April 20th. This was originally supposed to be on March 17th but they had to reschedule it today. I'm disappointed with this but I am thinking that I will probably go to my family doctor in a few weeks and get the results from him. All my lab work that I had done last month came back very good. No risk factors for heart disease, blood sugar in good control, and no thyroid issues. The only thing is that my HDL is a little low. The doctor told me to drink red wine every day or to look up other ways to increase my HDL. Not going to do the red wine but will try to increase my intake of olive oil and fish.
