After SB Ph1, I transitioned over to my modified version of Phase 2.... You hard core Beachers probably don't like my method, but it seemed to work last time for me, so what they hey... I'm trying it again.
I basically follow some of the SB Phase 2 rules.... in the fact that I will only eat the whole grains (in moderation), whether it be brown rice, oats, breads (I do kind of cheat with the bread and eat the Sara Lee 45 calorie Delightful....Love it), wheat tortillas...you get the gist....
Fruits are in moderation as well... Oh... cheeses and nuts also in moderation. Veggies....I eat them, but rarely do I EVER get in 4 1/2 cups, which is a big South Beach NO NO!!!
And I count count count my calories!! If I have room for dessert (whatever it may be)...I eat it!! I always have a Hostess 100 Calorie Pack cakes for dessert after lunch, and that usually takes care of the sweets craving for the day. Rarely...rarely to I get a hankering for dessert at night.
The strawberry ones are my favs!!
I always try to stay within what Spark thinks my daily calories should be (1200-1550 per day). With the nutrition tracker here on Sparkpeople it makes it soooo easy to count. If it weren't for this feature I probably wouldn't do it. Some days I shoot for a higher calorie day, and then I will go on the low end a few days and hardly eat any grains..... this usually helps get the number down by "weigh day!!"
I am a weigh in junkie...I admit it.
I weigh in every morning. Sometimes it frustrates me, and sometimes it doesn't. Even when the number is higher than I think it should be....I am just amazed at how it is sooo different everyday! Take last week for instance... I had lost 4 lbs on Phase 1 (which brought me to 134).. on Saturday, Feb. 5th. So that number stayed steady for few days and then like on Wednesday the 9th...the scale said 137.8. I was like WTFaaaa!! So on my "official" weigh in day, I was at 133.6! AhhhMazing! That ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't weigh EVERY stinkin' day. To me...it's fun, though! I look forward to my morning weigh in. Keeps me in line!!
So...speaking of my last weigh in.... the one where I was 133.6. I was really surprised and shocked at the number. I was having a rough start to the weekend...well, eating wise anyway. I had a sugar attack! Friday night, I chowed down a bunch of Sour Patch Kids (went over calories for the day). Saturday morning...munchies kicked in AGAIN.... I ate a huge bowl of oatmeal with sugar, if I may add (not Splenda)... Ilove the little grit that sugar gives...mmm! I was eating nuts and more Sour Patches....A grilled cheese for lunch... more nuts... 3 assorted chocolates from a Valentine my mom gave Trey. And we ate these yummy greasy hamburgers for dinner with cheddar cheese on toast. Was like a Patty Melt. ...stomach growls.... Did I mention that I didn't track for the day, but SURELY I went over calories! And then I get the bright idea that ....
Oh, I forgot to weigh in.... why don't I go do it now, while I feel all fat and nasty.
And BAM...the scale said 133.6 AhhMAzing!! The body is such an amazing thing!
Anywho....I am hoping that was it for my crazy sugar binging for a while. That box of chocolates was staring me in the face entirely too long! After all...you never know what you're gonna get!
So, as long as I keep track of what I am eating....and stay in my ranges, the number on my scale WILL go down. Even if it is only a teensy fraction of a pound....that's A-OK by me!
