5 Calorie Dessert

Sometimes (a lot!) I want something sweet after dinner. I'm not hungry, but still want a little something. I saw a product-placement type embedded commercial on the Biggest Loser suggesting that Extra Dessert Delights gum be chewed when you want a sweet treat, so I thought I'd give it a try. Turns out it's true! I chew a piece of tasty gum and my sweet tooth is actually satisfied. It makes sense, because I'm not really hungry, just craving, so a little sweetness does the trick!

I've had the mint chocolate chip and the key lime and both are very tasty. The mint chocolate chip tastes kind of like Andes mints. The key lime is fruity and sweet-tart. There's also another flavor...strawberry shortcake or cheesecake (I can't remember), but I haven't tried that one yet.

Not to say that I still don't want actual dessert now and then, but for most days this gum has been a great trick. Do you use any diet tricks that really help you that you'd be willing to share? I could use all the help I can get!

    When we go to the States, I always bring back a smattering of Jello Sugar-Free / Fat-Free instant puddings. I don't know that they're especially good for people (lol) but when I get a case of the 'gotta have sweet stuff' it hits the spot.

We have some fruit every night after supper. I don't give myself a huge portion, because it can spike blood glucose, but I always make sure my daily allowances include fruit with supper. Because it's the one 'splurge' I sometimes get special treats like fresh strawberries or blueberries. Other times I might cut a pear or apple in half, put some muesli in his half, sprinkle with a little cinnamon or something, then nuke it. Just like baked fruit. Instead of cream or ice cream, I sometimes use yogurt as a topping. Amazing how good something like that tastes when you are away from the super-delish (yes, I admit it) calorie-laden desserts. Thinks me!

    I'm just like you - I need to end my meals on a sweet note. I'm actually having one piece of very dark chocolate (85 or 90% cocoa) and it's so strong I feel totally satisfied.

    Mom got us some those for Christmas. I like the key lime :) I think Sugar Free, Fat Free is a very low-cal dessert, only I like it with whipped cream...I like cinnamon bake apples are also delicious with yogurt.

    I'll eat 1/2 C Honey Nut Cheerios dry as a snack in the evening. That satisfies my sweet tooth/ crunchy craving. That's a 55 calorie dessert.
