Many of my friends and I seem to be on the same cycle. When I’m following my plan, making good choices and seeing results, many of you seem to be doing the same.
Right now, it seems many of us, including me, are teetering on the edge – not quite following our plan, doing things that aren’t furthering our goals.
We want to, we really want to be eating in range and getting in our fitness minutes , but something is causing problems in the execution!
My thoughts on this may sound like heresy, but I’m sharing them nevertheless.
I think this lethargy has to do with the extreme winter weather. It’s been ages since we’ve had a winter that has kept us shoveling snow week after week and unable to do much more than hunker down and get through it. We’re tired of it! We’re beat down a bit by it! And we sure as heck can’t change it!
I firmly believe that once the temps hit the 40’s and 50’s
and the ice is gone so we can see the sidewalks again, we are gonna hit the ground running – literally!
We are going to burst from our cocoons like butterflies,
open ourselves to the sun like blossoms waiting for Spring!
It often doesn’t take much tweaking to make a substantial difference in the results we get. Just a few less calories or a few more fitness minutes can make the difference between losing and being on a plateau – or between maintaining and gaining.
We can remember that EVERY SINGLE choice makes a difference – leaving a couple of bites on the plate, drinking an extra glass of water,
holding the mayo on that sandwich,
taking the stairs even when we don’t have to.
Let’s give ourselves these small gifts every day!
Because they truly are the gifts we deserve. Gifts that move us forward on the path, even by a few inches – streaks we can count on to lead to great successes.
Let’s start thinking small, but acting often, to make lots of good choices in little ways! Let’s start working our way toward Spring with baby steps - and when that sunshine breaks through the clouds,
our cloudy thinking will have melted away and we’ll be ready to rock this!
Spark on, Brothers and Sisters! Fan that tiny spark – I know it’s there! – into a giant burning flame. Burn up the cobwebs and winter doldrums – WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
