I've been having a tough week. I haven't gotten all of my workouts in this week and just haven't felt like working out. My long run on Saturday, though it was 7 miles, didn't go so well. And, I was only able to run 2 miles on the treadmill this morning. I came home even though I could have spent about 20 more minutes.
I've been feeling burned out. My hip hurts off & on. I haven't felt like running. It's too cold to ride. I'm just feeling burned out. I even looked at my triathlon's website to see if I'd get a partial refund if I cancelled. I've even thought about dropping my half marathon.
But, maybe it's just the weather? I live in the Houston area where we usually stay pretty warm. We have about 6 weeks of winter and a few nights a year where it dips below freezing. But, as much of the country is experiencing, our winter has ben a lot harder this year. We've had a lot of nights below freezing, and even some days (like today)! It is just hard to get out & exercise in this cool weather! In fact, it's been hard to get much accomplished these past couple of weeks.
Thankfully, it is supposed to be a LOT nicer next week. Yeah! It's supposed to be around 70 several days next week. Yeah! Of, if the weather is my problem, I hope the weather change will help!
Also, I did have a nice swim on Sunday. I went with my 10 year old daughter and swam for an entire hour. I swam 1150 yards which is a lot further than I've ever swam before. And, I swam one 250 yard stretch which beat my longest 200 yard swim.
Tonight, my swim coach was out sick so I had a sub. I told her I wanted to work more on technique tonight. Well, I'm assuming a lot of it was her personality, but she just PRAISED my swimming! She kept telling me how wonderful my strokes were and how I was doing this and that wonderfully. But, at the same time, she taught me some drills to improve my strokes. Oh, and she taught me how to do the kick to breaststroke, something I just wasn't getting.
After swimming for 30 minutes, and feeling great, I got to go outside at 8 pm in the 29 degree weather. BRRR!!! But, I'm feeling a little better tonight and hope the change is permanent. I'm taking tomorrow morning off and will either work out at the gym or at home some tomorrow. I'll probably take Friday off so I can do my long run on Saturday... when the temps are supposed to be improving!
I hope you all are surviving whatever winter has sent your way. I know my temps (& lack of snow) probably doesn't seem like much, but it is to me. Take care & keep pushing forward!
