I knew this weekend was going to be full of food and probably not the good kind either. I made some cake balls for a superbowl party I was invited to yesterday. I made healthier substitutions for the cake mix itself (using apple sauce in place of oil, egg whites instead of whole eggs, etc.) because I knew the rest of the ingredients weren't good for you at all: frosting and chocolate chips.
I usually like making my own frosting, but for time and money purposes, I bought a tub of pre-made frosting from the store. I made my cake balls, dunked them in the candy coating, topped them with melted chocolate, and proceeded to lick clean the spoon from the frosting jar. I probably ate 2 tablespoons of pure frosting before I looked at the side of the jar and saw....
Trans fat: 2g
I guess I must be stupid or something because I thought trans fat was banned! Maybe that's just NY and CA. Ugh. What the hell??!!
Of course, this didn't stop me from eating 2 cake balls at the party, too.
I'm so pissed at this!
Anyway, today is a new day... sort of! I planned out my meals and will be eating nutritiously... except for the fact that I just ate a leftover cake ball! I brought all of the leftovers to work so everyone else could eat them - not me! I even kept them at another person's desk so they'd be on the opposite side of a cubicle wall from me. But, I had to go to my supervisor's desk this morning for a little sit-down meeting and they were right there... he ate two, I ate one. Ugh. On the plus side, everyone at work is LOVING these cake balls, as did everyone at the party last night.
The rest of the day is going to be full of nutrition (no more cake balls, I swear!!!) and I'm either going to go for a run (if the weather holds up) or to a Spinning class after work.
Speaking of fitness, yesterday I went to my first yoga class in about 2 weeks. Stepf was our instructor, as usual, and she helped me discover that I have a really bendy back and flexible arms! It was kind of cool to actually do something semi-impressive at yoga.
It also helped my back, glutes, and hamstrings feel a lot looser after Saturday's run.
I hope you all had a great weekend!
