Dreaming of Spring--Picture of quilt

Sunday, February 06, 2011

This morning I was COVERED up in my quilt of love that my mother made me--actually it's just a little lap quilt, but SO nice when I don't want something super heavy or if I want to just drape something over my shoulders.

And this is the LOVELY poem she WROTE for it:

"When winter comes and it's cold and bleak,
and your beautiful flowers are fast asleep,
Cover your sweet arms under this winter garden of love
and dream what Spring will bring…"

This is what my flower gardens look like NOW:

but DREAMING of this:

What a beautiful quilt and a lovely poem, made by a mom who obviously loves you very much. You will treasure that quilt even more someday. I was reading your goals, and I too would like to fit back into my wedding dress someday. I think it was a size 11, but back then (1970--a LONG time ago), a think a size 11 was smaller than it is now, and I know my body, although I might not be far from what I weighed on my wedding day, is definitely a different shape. After 3 babies, and several major weight losses and gains and losses and gains, etc. it's never going to be the same.

Hold on--Spring's coming!!

How awesome to have such a quilt :0). We are so looking forward to springtime and I am a winter lover :0). There is just something so LONG about this winter!
I am hoping to get a garden and landscape our yard some this year. We are having several trees taken down in order to allow for sunshine to reach the yard---AND the pool which in this NEPA weather tends to stay too cold without direct sunlight!

Amazing! What a sweet gift of love from your mother!

My DH wants me to learn to quilt, but with all of the sewing I do, I haven't the time to do that, too. I told him when the children are older and I have more room, I would get working on it. :)

Your blog made me smile. My backyard is also covered with snow and I am looking forward to spring. I know those tulips and daises are sleeping under the snow just waiting for the perfect day to pop up their little heads.

I also like to quilt. I am part of a quilting group with ladies at church. Your Mom made a beautiful loving quilt that can be passed on through generations.

Have a warm winter. Joan from Ohio emoticon
