It's February already!

Saturday, February 05, 2011

Time has been moving along. I was sick last week. I was thankful that I was able to work from home while taking an online class, so I didn't have to take a sick day. It would have been rough if I had had to go into the office. Our new cat, Rocco, is settling in. We are getting along pretty well. He has the run of the house except at night and when we are away. He is such a sweet cat. I am happy that we took him in. He tries to be friends with our older cats, but they growl at him. He isn't aggressive toward the older cats and I am very thankful for that. I will be glad when I get over this bad cold and can exercise again. I'm looking forward to spring.

Caring for my mother has been a real challenge. She lives almost an hour away and she is hardly able to shop for herself. We take care of her yard and clean her house. Recently, she got a medical alert system from I am very thankful for this. I worry a little less knowing that if she falls, she can press the button and the system will call me. If I don't answer my cell phone, the system will call my home phone. If I don't answer there, the system will call 911. I can stop the system from continuing to call by pressing 0. I have programmed the local rescue and sheriff's department numbers into my cell phone so that if I need to call for help for her, I won't have to find the numbers or wait for 911 to transfer me.

My son and his girlfriend went with my husband and my mother-in-law to have dinner with my mother last Thursday. We had a really nice time. We usually go every Thursday night to have dinner with our moms.

My 80-something year old grandmother has one of those alert systems. She's used it 3 times. It's really a great thing to have.

Glad you love your new kitty! You're always taking a chance when you take in a new pet. Maybe your old kitties will adjust to him soon!

That's a wonderful weekly tradition with your mothers! I know that has to be a relief that your mom has an alert system now. Feel better soon! I'm fighting a cold, also, and seem to be losing the battle.
