I really enjoy using this website, but I agree with numerous other comments. Why hasn't this Spark page been updated in 5 months? Makes one wonder if anyone at Spark is in charge of overseeing Spark America. Please keep this current and newsworthy if you expect people to subscribe to this blog (or even check back in).
2011 was just the start of a life time of change. Only backslide once in a while now. 2012 will be a good year I can feel it! good luck to everyone on their journey to a new improved you! Lucinda
Wow, I have had some super busy weeks. Ones that I couldn't get back here to post what's going on. But busy enough to keep me shaking. I'm so super glad for the mild winter we are having. It is so awesome to be in February I don't have to walk with my cane. I need to be careful on the patches of ice...but compared to other winters....this is awesome year. I'm getting out there walking earlier than I otherwise could have. For the first time I'm walking further not huffing and puffing as wild....I can do several blocks now. This feels great!!!
I'm making time to posts my progress as I go along. I get bored with the record keeping to stay on track with diets. THis is holding my attention as I read others struggles too.

Today is my first day to record my exercise on SP. I plan to take time to keep posting and work toward losing 10 lbs. Then, I'll set another 10 lb goal. I can make it with all the help provided here.
I am new to SP, only joined in December 2011. It is a treasure trove of information, and I love how it has a real community feel to it. There are so many interesting topics of discussion, and friendly advice, tips and idea. Thank you all.
Welcome to all you new comers!! Glad you found us! I have been with SP for a while now,and I told my family, and my son, daughter, and daughter-in-law all joined, and we are having GREAT RESULTS!!! And you will to. Try to do the best you can each day,and you will do it. I was 120 lbs.over weight when I started,at 250.I lost 25 lbs.,stopped, but restarted, and now I know for sure, that it really does work. If I can do it,SO CAN YOU!!!
I too have been with SP only a few weeks but find it very helpful in keeping track of all my goals. It makes it easier having specific teams of support that fit in my life. thank you for the wonderful cookbook to go by for recipes, it is a good tool. Nice to be here on many teams.
This is my 1st week on sparkpeople. I think this will be a great tool to keep me on track. I have recorded the my food intake & weight for almost 2 years, but to the detail provided by this site. The detail is really helpful in helping to see were you have gone off track. This is a really great site. Thank you.
I have been with SP for over a year and have slowly lost 36lbs. It's a lifestyle change that I believe I can live with. I have learned how to eat healthy, fit exercise into a busy schedule, drink lots of water and eat fruit which I hardly ever ate before. The best part is I have more energy, am stronger and love shopping for new clothes.
I feel better when I exercise and watch what I eat to. The stress levels seem to melt away to almost nothing. Granted many problems still exist but when we feel good about ourselves other things in our life get managed better. SP mail keeps me reminded to log-in on those dragging days, and seeing what I do like exercise, food I eat, and how I lose in whatever form keep me going. Stay strong and focused everyone and remember if you love yourself first then you can do better for yourself and for others even under stress. Keep up the great work. Even if we're all in this individually we are all in this together too.
I just now come back to Sparks People and found this blog. I have a lot a stressors in my life. I have realized that when I exercise and watch what I eat I feel much better. This site really is an inspiration to me. I look forward to logging my exercise minutes, fruit and veggie and water intake. towards a new me!
I find the daily spark emails that are sent to my regular email really inspiring and good for self-reflection too. some days they are what get me off this computer chair and out the door. Reviewing my daily goals and getting those great points makes it motivating, just like a game, only one where I win with every move I make!
I'm on low income too! So could I get a low income grant too?!I'll have to check into it. Ihave doctor bills too. Thank you for the information and God Bless.
I've just found/read your blog, i liked it i joined sparkpeople just over 3 months ago, & i love it, i have found that i have made loads of new friends, & have joined numerous groups, that i didn't think that i would be able to do.
Great Idea-Spark People. Getting all together, working together to be a better me. I think everyone wants that some have to almost be forced to get out of our shell and become a new me, a better me.
I joined just now and am looking forward to the progress I anticipate with this tracking system. The sight looks very promising as a nutritional guide and I look forward to following it.
I, too, just joined and find it very motivating. I actually look forward to recording my exercises and my food intake to see how well/badly I've done. It's a real eye-opener! There is so much to see and read about on the website. I love it! And I look forward to staying on track and losing this weight!
I joined Sparkpeople about a month ago. I have many disability's and I am learning how to work around them, I can walk some so my plan is to walk one mile a day, I'm also low income so I went to the local YMCA and was given a low income grant which has turned out to be a real blessing for me, I water jog/swim three times a week for 90 minutes straight quite a workout! And sparkpeople sight has so many good exercise video's one is a beginners 20 minute Resistance Band Workout that I do three times a week, you do it sitting down. I stay motivated by reading all of the sparkpeople emails sent to my regular email. I love sparkpeople so much that I got my adult daughter to join this last week. It's more then just dieting and exercise it's a whole new way of living and positive thinking. I wish everyone the best!
I joined about 2 1/2 -3 weeks ago. I have really enjoyed the articles that i have readI find something new almost every day. I also have been faithful tracking everything that goes into my mouth. It really helps me see the fat, carbs, cals, and protein. this is the first time in a long while I am excited about loosing weight.
As with others, I, too, just joined. I have an issue with salads....salads at restaurants are just fine, but making one for myself and eating it at lunch seems such a chore and not pleasurable at all. Now I realize that attitude is everything and analysis of myself is necessary. When is my favorite time of the day?....morning. When do I pick myself up, beautify myself for the day, do my prayers, arrange and neaten my bedroom, go out to the kitchen and fix myself a cup of tea and generally enjoy myself?....morning. Now comes analysis.....what will salad do for my general well-being....#1 nutrients are packed in those greens, celery, bell pepper, cucumber. etc.; #2 great for the intestinal track; #3 benefits for complexion and hair; #4 great for my arteries/plaque remover. Consequently, if analysis and attitude are in sync at 6:30 a.m., eating a plateful of salad is a very logical thing to do. Along with a muffin and cup of tea I am pleased and content. The salad (romaine/red bell pepper/celery) did not displease me at all. I said, "you are entering my very self, you will become part of my very self, you will do wonderful things . I am happy to have you join me."
