I am a goal oriented person. I find that when I set goals I am more likely to get things done and it pushes me to do more than not setting them at all. Unlike most people New Years resolutions are awesome for me because it gives me big goals for the whole year. =) So, I am trying the last few months that I am in Oregon to set myself some goals to keep me sane. This post is my goals for the month of February.
Last month I ran a total of 39.3 miles for my 10k training. I hope to up the mileage this next month, so I came up with a very scientific method to figure out a goal. Total mileage last month was 39.3 divided by 31 days equals 1.26 miles per day. So in February there are 28 days, if I run 1.26 miles (average) per day again, that would be 35.28 miles. I want to increase that mileage by 10% so add on 3.5 miles for a total goal of 38.08 miles. Sounds like a reasonable goal for me. =)
Goal 2 is going to be for family time. I would like to start doing more as a family, much like we did in our 25 days of Christmas challenge. So, my goal for this is going to be to have family night at least twice this month (or family day).
Lastly goal three is going to be about my personal devotional time. I believe to have a relationship with God I need to spend time in his word. I know I'm not the only one who has such a busy schedule, but I am finding it more and more frequent that I put this vital time off till the last minute, or skip it altogether. So, goal number three is to spend at least 10 minutes each morning in reading His word and another five in prayer. This is only 15 minutes each day but can make a vital difference in my attitude and walk. =)
Goal 1: run at least 38.1 miles in the month.
Goal 2: Family time at least two nights (or days) this month.
Goal 3: 15 minutes each morning in prayer and Bible study.
