Why Can't I Stay Off the Scale

This morning when I got on the scale- my weight went up 3 lbs just from yesterday- what the heck! I know I shouldn't weigh myself every morning bc weight fluctuates, but it is so hard to stay off the scale. Any tips?

    Give it to someone to hide till weigh in day or put it away so it is out of mind, out of sight. That's what I had to do when I had that issue several times in the past. If you did it yourself do as you would when are trying to avoid eating something bad- Find something else to do in order to distract you.
I can't seem to do it again but the best thing I ever did was NOT get on the scale but once a month after I had my first son. I was working out and eating right at the time. It was so nice to see the scale go down about 5 pounds every month until I hit my goal six months later. I had no idea that I may have put 2 pounds on in a day only to lose 3 a few days later.     Last night I was 153.0 lbs - this morning I was 148.8 lbs according to the same scale. It's normal!! Ha ha, sometimes hard to swallow though but just remember that it is a gradual change you really can't track daily!

    I have a love hate for the scale. I hate when it goes up but I love when it goes down. I was just like you when I first started. Everyday. But I know only weigh in on sunday's only. What I will do is if I ate something that I know I should not I will weigh myself because I know my weight will go up and I am the kind of girl that needs tough love emoticon

    I weigh in daily. For me, it's what works best. Of course I get frustrated with the unavoidable daily fluctuations, but I know they usually don't have anything to do with fat. It's water weight. When I gain, I try to remember what I ate to make me retain water. I think everyone needs to find what works best for them personally. The scale is just a tool. If it's useful, use it. If it's not, use something else to measure your progress.

    I have started weighing on Sunday and putting the scale in the closet on a shelf. I really am finding I'm much more focused when I'm not having sidetracking discouraging feelings. I am more excited to weigh. I can focus on my day. When I would keep the scale out, I'd get up and weigh after I'd pee. Then if it wasn't where I wanted I would think "hmm I' a little bloated, maybe in a little while i can pee again and then it will be better" and then I'd not want to eat because I was waiting to check weight again. I mean it was ridiculous, I knew it was ridiculous but I would still think that way. Now I'm focused more on eating and MOVING and less on the scale. It will do what it wants, and us women fluctuate SO much with our menstrual cycle!

I heard ppl putting mr.scale in jail (aka closet)

my daily range is 5 lbs! don't fret!

I weight daily, BUT I record wkly! lol

    I agree, I work in a doctor's office, where the evil scale is just around the corner!I just try to ignore it and move on but its hard.

    I'm the same way! i weigh in every morning. My weight bounces around (usually 3Lbs up or down) throughout the week...My goal is to get my weight fluctuating between lower numbers on the scale. If you go from weighing between 159-157 all week and the next week you weigh-in around 156-154...then you know you're doing well!!
I'm not sure if that makes any sense to you...but i don't go by ONE number..i go by a range (within a 2lb limit)!! :)

    If I eat something salty, I can go up 3 lbs one afternoon from just the morning. TOM can also cause a sudden gain. It is too frustrating to weigh so often. I can't talk because I have to weigh every day too! I just try to keep it in perspective. If you can't, maybe you should give the scale to a friend or your parents etc, and only weigh when you visit them. I weigh often to keep myself on track, it's easy for me to "think" I am eating right or exercising enough. Getting on the scale keeps me in check. But I also measure and I only do that once a month!

    If you live with someone, ask them to hide the scale and only get it out once each week. Or put it in your trunk.
