My February challenge/goal- Breaking out the pedometer!

I am adding this to my goals today. I am going to try to use my pedometer every day for the month of February. I started today so that I'd have an even 4 weeks since today is Sunday. I am going to track myself both on and off Spark to see how I do. So I have a 4 week goal and a "month of February" goal.

And you know what? 10,000 steps is A LOT!!!! I barely hit 4,000 today and that was WITH some extra walking around the house just to get the last few steps in. I also DID go for a walk this afternoon by myself too, and still didn't hit 5,000 much less 10,000.

The goal is to USE it though, not to worry about the number of steps. From what I've read my step counts should increase just by using the pedometer. When I LOOK at the numbers then I will be more motivated to get those numbers to climb.

Here's hoping it works!!

    we never did 10,000 until after getting the pedometer. 5000 is about average for most people daily.

    You're right 10K steps is a lot, but I like the idea of breaking out the pedometer. I bet it will be a habit in no time and by the end of the month it won't seem that long.

    I hope you join the STEP IT UP challenge, too. It really helped me focus... I put mine on in the morning and when I do not workout, I only step between 500-1000! Quite the eye-opener!
    Also, the challenge motivated me to do my work-outs. In fact, sometimes in January I dreaded my workout, but did it just to make the 10,000 step quota!lol emoticon

    GO FOR IT!!
    Why don't you join us in the STEP IT UP challenge for February and add your steps to the team goal (on the Fab by 40's Group Challenge Forum). It was very motivating for me in January. Wearing the pedometer itself is motivating like you said, no matter what your daily goal!!
