My DOMS and Quilt Club Day

Today I was very sore upon awakening. My whole body was sore, and kind of "burning muscle" feeling.

Today is also Quilt Club Day.

I was going to work out, but then I saw the article about DOMS. What the heck does THAT mean???

Intrigued, I clicked on the article, and read it all. Now I know.

DOMS is an acronym for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. That is what I have. I have DOMS.

And I have cramps in my muscles too. They started last night.

But now I know. DOMS.

Yep. That's right. I have DOMS.

That means I have really worked my entire body well, and that I have muscle "burn".

I don't know about YOU, but I am sure impressed with having DOMS!!! To me, it means my body is changing. It means my muscles have been worked out.

It means I can go blissfully to quilt club after doing some stretches and not feel guilty about taking a day off from the Heathen Masters of workout DVDs.

It's okay for me to do a "light" day.

I will go to Quilt Club and not even miss that cheerful jumping and stretching and pulling a puffing and panting and glisten running in my eyes and all the ball chasing, the cat hissing, and the lying flat on the floor trying to get my breath.

Yes, indeed. Belonging to a quilt club is a good thing! I will be with my friends who are not yelling at me to do "Just three more! and then we are on to the NEXT moves".

My Spirit sings with joy. I HAVE EARNED MY DOMS!!!

    I hope you are feeling better. Have you gotten to the point yet where your DOMS is not so bad or are you finding new muscles to hurt? That seems to be what is happening with me as I am doing Zumba. Quite a workout for this "ole" lady. Believe me when I say I don't look anything at all like what I am seeing and I have way off on the beats. I am left when she is right and all that!!! lol So glad you got to go to your quilting club. ENJOY!!!

    Go You! I don't like moving when I'm sore but it sure feels good to have some proof that I'm working out. I always feel thinner when my muscles are sore. My daughter, 13, is in preseason track for the first time. She was complaining about cramping over the weekend. It took me a while to realize that it was DOMS and not female issues.

    if you want to get rid of DOM, just squeeze the juice of a lemon ( and you can add a little pinch of sugar too) to 8 ounces glass of water and within a short time ater drinking it, you will feel better! I learned that sore muscles are due to a build up of lactic acid in the muscles. The best way to get rid of lactic acid is to drink water with lemon juice. Its better quicker results than just water! Its why drinking lemon ade in the summer is so refreshing! Helps the muscles to clena otu the lactic acid which casues the sore muscles! lol

    You deserve a day off from those brutal workouts! DOMS indeed; I'm not surprised you're feeling that after all your hard work lately, you EARNED a day off and your body will appreciate the (short) break.

I got a couple of the DVDs and tried the arms one last night--those workouts may each be only 10 minutes long, but they do produce a serious glisten, especially if you're foolish enough to do all three in a row like I did last night! Thanks for letting me know they were worthwhile, nice to have some new tools in the arsenal for the battle. Enjoy quilt club!

    emoticon I want DOMS. too!!! Me, too! me. too! Actually, I've had it, just didn't know the name. I always give myself a day between ST workouts. I do cardio every day, but those other moves make your body need the rest time. Enjoy your day!
